Saturday, 12th June: Chicago to St. Louis
 

The "Lost Souls" (as later named for our collective lack of navigation skills) depart Orland Park. Left to right: Joe Miroballi, Mark Atillano, Dave York, Karen York (partially obsured), Gina Atillano, Ed York, John Rynne, Brigid Rynne, John Wright and Fred Beyer.

The group met up with the rest of the Rally at our first gas stop: notable for the Launching Pad Drive Inn and "Gemini Giant".

Mark and Gina led us to a quaint former Route 66 cafe which had operated from an old streetcar - very ... er ... compact.

The cafe was located behind a dilapidated wooden building with an original 'speak easy' in the cellar. The tables in the restaurant were laid, but (overcome by the smell of public lavatories) we declined to eat there.
